Oberegger, Narbaitz & Alix earn football Athlete of the Week honors

X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men veteran offensive lineman Christian Oberegger was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 1, 2009. Christian, a fifth year Arts student from Mississauga, ON, was named the Subway Player of the Game in the X-Men’s recent 31-18 win over Mount Allison in their final regular season game. Christian led the strong play of the X-Men O-line in Friday’s win, making several key plays on offense and big blocks. Christian was a 2008 AUS offensive all-star.

X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men football defensive lineman Tom Narbaitz was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 1, 2009. Tom, a first year Human Kinetics student from Ottawa, ON stepped up and had a strong game for the X-Men defense in their recent 31-18 win over Mount Allison. Tom had 3 solo and 3 assisted tackles in the game, and had one QB sack which resulted in a loss of 11 yards. Tom also had a key interception in the 2nd quarter which he returned for 25 yards, setting up an X-Men field goal.

X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men kicker/punter Anthony Alix was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 1, 2009. Anthony, a first year Arts student from Mont-Tremblant, QC kicked one 22 yard field goal and had 4 PAT for the X-Men in their recent 31-18 win over Mount Allison. He also amassed 181 yards on 7 punts and 153 yards on 5 kickoffs in the game. Anthony finished the season 2nd in AUS scoring amongst kickers, with 59 points (12 field goals and 2 rouges).
