Final Football Athletes of the Week announced

The final X-Men Athletes of the Week have been announced for the week ending November 9, 2008.

X-Men quarterback Steve Snyder was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 9, 2008 for the third time this year. Steve, a fourth year Arts student from London, ON had a strong second half for the X-Men in a very close come-from-behind charge in their heartbreaking 29-27 Loney Bowl loss to SMU. He threw three touchdown passes in the second half including a long pass of 75 yards to draw the X-Men close. He was 22 for 35 in completions for a total of 379 yards. 

X-Men linebacker David Skillen was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 9, 2008 for the fifth time this season. David, a fourth year Business student from Fredericton, NB kept up his stellar defensive play this past Saturday in the X-Men’s close 29-27 Loney Bowl loss to SMU. He had 4 solo and 4 assisted tackles in the game and was in on two tackle-for-loss plays.

X-Men wide receiver Curtis Cammaert was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 9, 2008 for the fourth time this season. Curtis, a fourth year Arts student from London, ON continued his consistent play on special teams this past Saturday in the X-Men’s close 29-27 Loney Bowl loss to SMU. He had 4 kickoff returns for 99 yards, including a long return of 30 yards.
