Three X-Men AUS Athletes of the Week

November 4, 2008 (HALIFAX, NS) - The StFX X-Men swept this week's Atlantic University Sport Football Player of the Week selections following a convincing 52-12 semi-final victory over the Mount Allison Mounties this past weekend. QB Steve Snyder, LB Henoc Muamba and WR Pat Coristine were each chosen for their respective performances.

Quarterback Steve Snyder of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 2nd, 2008. Steve, a fourth year Arts student from London, ON was named the player of the game as he led the X-Men to a 52-12 semi-final playoff victory over the visiting Mount Allison Mounties this past Saturday in Antigonish. Snyder completed 11-of-16 passes for 282 yards and three touchdown passes, including a long of 81 yards to Akeem Foster early in the second quarter. Steve, who also had 15 yards rushing in the win, led the Atlantic conference this season with a passing average of 239.4 yards/game.

Linebacker Henoc Muamba of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending November 2nd, 2008. This marks the fourth time in 2008 that Henoc, a second year Information Systems student from Kinshasa, Congo, has taken home this honour. Muamba continued his stellar defensive play this past Saturday in the X-Men's decisive 52-12 playoff win over the Mount Allison Mounties. He recorded five solo and 1 assisted tackles for the X-Men, and added a sack for a loss of 5 yards. He lead all linebackers in the Atlantic conference in tackles this season with an average of 5.8 per game.

StFX X-Men wide receiver Pat Coristine is the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending November 2nd, 2008. Pat, a third year Arts student from Cornwall, ON, had four punt returns for a total of 71 yards in this week's semi-final win over Mount Allison. He also scored a touchdown on a 30-yard pass from Steve Snyder. Pat has been consistent on special teams for the X-Men throughout the 2008 season.
