X-Men Sweep AUS Player of the Week honors

October 14, 2008 (HALIFAX, NS) - Jeremy Marchand, Reilly Penner and Kyle Chisholm of the StFX X-Men have been selected as the Atlantic University Sport Football Players of the Week following week 6 action. The StFX X-Men picked up the lone win in interlock play this past weekend and clinched a playoff berth with a 40-7 home win over the McGill Redmen.

Jeremy Marchand of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 12th, 2008. Jeremy, a fifth year Arts student from Comber, ON scored two rushing touchdowns Saturday in the X-Men’s 40-7 interlock win over the McGill Redmen. He was second amongst all rushers with 47 yards on 7 carries, and he also had two receptions for 26 yards. Jeremy is a captain with the X-Men and is a three-time Atlantic conference all-star. He now has scored five majors in 2008, second only to teammate James Green's seven TD's.

Defensive back Reilly Penner of the StFX X-Men is the Atlantic University Sport Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 12th, 2008. Reilly, a second year Business student from Calgary, AB made several key defensive plays for the X-Men in their 40-7 win over McGill this past Saturday. Facing perhaps one of the most prolific passers in CIS football, Penner picked his second interception of the season and added four pass break-ups in the game. He also recorded two solo and one assisted tackle in the victory.

StFX punter/kicker Kyle Chisholm is the Atlantic University Sport Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending October 12th, 2008. Kyle, a third year Arts student from Antigonish, NS accounted for 14 points in the X-Men's 40-7 interlock win over McGill on Saturday. Chisholm has a perfect three-for-three on field goal attempts, 4-of-4 on PAT kicks and added a rouge on a kickoff. He also had 11 punts for 376 total yards and four kickoffs for 220 yards. Kyle is third in Atlantic conference scoring with 49 points in six games this season.
