Sport: Builder, Rugby-Football-Hockey

Laurence ‘Larry’ Streete enters the STFX Sports Hall of Fame posthumously in the builder category. Although he competed in only one varsity season, the multi-sport athlete left a lasting legacy as the first Black student-athlete at STFX, making him one of the true builders and pioneers of varsity athletics at the University. Larry excelled with the X-Men Rugby and Football programs and contributed to the X-Men Hockey team as an assistant manager. Larry began his post-secondary athletic career at Xavier Junior College in Sydney before moving to the Antigonish campus for his history-making stint with the white and blue. He enjoyed a successful teaching and coaching career in Ontario after graduation, mentoring numerous prospective student-athletes and guiding many to attend his alma mater. Larry maintained a strong connection to STFX and was a fantastic supporter over the years, often travelling back for Homecoming weekends and other occasions.
