X runners claim second place finishes at Acadia meet

Wolfville, NS – The STFX Cross Country program sent a split squad to Wolfville Saturday to compete at the Acadia Invitational meet. Both the X-Women and X-Men teams placed second overall.

Caroline Ash took home top spot, winning the women's 8km race with a time of 31:52 amongst the field of 53 competitors.

Brynn Hebert (32:54) came in 7th spot for a top ten finish and Maya Black (33:42) was 16th.

The X-Women garnered 60 team points in second spot behind Dalhousie with 30 and ahead of third place Acadia with 88.

Also competing for the X-Women were Sarah Watson (34:15) in 22nd, Qunicy Rotsaert-Smith (34:50) in 25th, Jillian Bennett (35:19) in 30th and Paige Quinn (36:43) in 42nd.

The X-Men earned 62 points in their respective second place finish, in between first place Dalhousie with 29 and third place Memorial with 79.

Luke MacDonald was the top X-Men in seventh place with a time of 27:34. Mathew Lawton was 9th, clocking in at 27:39 and Andrew Lupenette (28:13) was 13th. Ben good (28:24) was right beind in 14th position and Noah Proulx (28:54) placed 32nd.

The men's 8km race featured a field of 42 runners.

The STFX squads will be back in action on Saturday, October 7th when they compete at the UNB Invitational in Fredericton.
