X-Men run to second place finish at interlock meet

Fredericton, NB – The CIS No. 9 ranked X-Men cross country team ran to a second place showing at the UNB / St. Thomas interlock meet Saturday afternoon.

The 10k race featured seven AUS and eight RSEQ teams with 129 individual runners.

The Laval Rouge et Or were first with 19 points, the X-Men had 40 and McGill was third with 89. Rounding out the top five were Dalhousie (103) and Sherbrooke (161).

Laval racer Yves Sikubwabo (24:51.81) and Bougno Igor (25:14.49) placed first and second respectively, while StFX's Scott Donald was third finishing with a time of 25:14.78.

StFX had three more runners place in the top ten amongst university competitors – Calvin DeWolfe in 6th spot at 25:28.52, Alex Neuffer in 8th at 25:35.75 and Alex Cyr (25:52.69) was 10th overall. Angus Rawling (26:02.83) was 13th.

Rounding out the X-Men finishers were Nick Favero (25th, 26:02.83), Paul MacLellan (27th, 26:47.64), Addison Derhak (49th, 27:57.42) and Warren Ferguson (51st, 28:04.69).

The meet marked the final one of the regular season for the X-Men. They will have one weekend off before hosting the Subway AUS Championship on their home course on the campus of StFX University on Saturday, October 29th.

The women's 6k championship race is scheduled for 12:00 pm, followed by the men's 10k race at 12:45 pm.
