X-Men place 2nd in Subway AUS Cross Country Championship

X-Men place 2nd in Subway AUS Cross Country Championship

In front of their home town crowd the StFX men finished an impressive second overall at the Subway AUS Championship held this past weekend. StFX were the overall winners in the two previous AUS Championships.

Dalhousie’s Daniel Gorman placed first overall with a time of 33:37. Top finisher for the X-Men was Connor McGuire who placed second at 33.44. Connor has been a top finisher all season for the X-Men. StFX’s Ivan placed third with a time of 33:48.

StFX’s Julian MacLean placed eighth overall at 34:46. Gabriel Quenneville (35:03), Zachery MacDonald (35:16), Dennis Kayumba (36:42) and Donald Rasmussen (37:22) placed #11, #14, #19 & #21 respectively for StFX. There were 39 competitors in this championship.

Bronze medals went to Memorial University who placed 3rd in team results with 89 points, StFX was awarded silver with 38 points and Dalhousie awarded gold with 33 points.

Dalhousie’s Daniel Gorman took home the Male MVP of the Subway AUS Championship. Rookie of the year was awarded to Dalhousie’s Adam McGregor. StFX’s Dennis Kayumba was awarded the student-athlete & community service award. AUS coach of the year for men’s cross country was Dalhousie’s Heather Hennigar.

AUS male all stars were Daniel Gorman (DAL), Connor McGuire (StFX), Ivan Lewis (StFX), Sean Hulburt (MUN), Brad Orchard (SMU), Bruce Russell (DAL) and Josh Coyle (DAL).

CIS Cross Country Championships take place Saturday November 13th at Sherbrooke.
