Sackville, NB – The U SPORTS No. 8 ranked STFX X-Women remain undefeated on the AUS season as they shutout the Mount Allison Mounties 4-0 Friday night.

League leading scorer Amanda Smith added to her goal tally with a pair of goals to give her nine on the season as she helped her X squad improve to 5-0. Smith also set up the other two goals.

STFX forward Lauren Reid opened the scoring in the game in the 25th minute, depositing a header as she took advantage of a rebound after Smith hit the cross bar.

Smith then tallied late in the opening half in the 45th minute after a Cheyenne Bower corner kick. Mounties keeper Lennon Rutledge got her hands on the ball but couldn't hold on and Smith got a couple touched on it and found the mesh.

The 2-0 halftime lead quickly turned into a three-goal advantage as Aiden Miller took a nice feed from a through ball by Smith just over a minute into the second half. She split the MtA defense and beat the keeper on a low shot.

Smith then rounded out the STFX scoring in the 66th minute as she again scored off a corner kick, this time getting a one-touch off the ball and redirected it past Rutledge.

Christina Gentile took home the shutout victory in the X-Women net.

The blue and white will have the remainder of the weekend off and will be back in action on September 23rd when they travel to Halifax to take on Dalhousie.
