X-Women close out season with loss to Acadia

Wolfville, NS – The StFX X-Women closed out AUS regular season play with a 2-0 loss to the Acadia Axewomen Friday evening at Raymond Field.

Acadia scored twice in the opening half for the win.

Their first goal came in the 19th minute, unassisted, by Jenna Boudreau. Katie Ross then scored later in the half in the 39th minute, also unassisted, for the two-goal advantage.

Despite a few scoring chances from both sides in the second half, the score remained 2-0.

Shots favored the home team Axewomen 13-4 as Spencer Skinner earned the win in nets for Acadia. Erin Visser was tagged with the loss for StFX.

Boudreau took home Subway player of the game honours.

The game marked the final one of the regular season for the X-Women who close out with a 5-4-3 record and 18 points.

The Axewomen (6-3-2) have one game remaining, they will host UPEI Saturday at 3:00 pm.

Both squads have already clinched berths in the Subway AUS championship. The defending AUS champion X-Women will host the event next weekend, November 2-5 at StFX Oland Stadium.
