X-Women soccer 2-1 in pre-season play

The X-Women soccer team wrapped up pre-season exhibition play with a 2-1 record.

On Saturday at StFX, the X-Women hosted Cape Breton and Dalhousie Agricultural College. The Capers played to a 2-0 victory over the X-Women in their first game of the day, while StFX came back to defeat Dalhousie AC by a decisive 8-0 margin.

Jill MacDonald scored first for the Capers in the 49th minute and off the bench Ciera Disipio added to their lead with a goal in the 58th minute. Saturday's games were shortened 35 minute halves.

In the 8-0 win over Dalhousie AC, the X-Women were lead by Gabby Bergh who netted a trio of goals. Single markers were scored by Katie Walsh, Season Brennan, Erica Van Wyk, Kelsey Ellis and Margaux Fraser.

Goalkeeper Nicole MacDonald earned the shutout victory.

On Tuesday afternoon the X-Women played to a 4-0 shutout victory over the visiting Holland College Hurricanes in an afternoon match at Oland Stadium.

Erin Visser earned the shutout victory in nets for StFX while goals scorers were Fraser, Alex Gosse, Van Wyk and Katie Sullivan.

Fraser opened the scoring in the 12th minute then freshman Gosse and Van Wyk gave the X-Women a 3-0 lead in the first half with goals in the 21st and 42nd minutes. Sullivan rounded out the scoring in the 75th minute.

The X-Women open AUS regular season play with a pair of home games this Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th. On Saturday they will host the Aigles Bleues de Moncton, followed by a stint against the UNB Varsity Reds on Sunday. Game time on both days is 1:00 pm.
