X-Women Soccer advance to AUS Championship

The X-Women soccer team split their final two regular season games over the weekend, losing at Acadia 1-0 and beating Dalhousie at home 1-0.

At Acadia on Saturday, Acacia Dunphy of Acadia scored the only goal of the game in the 37th minute. Eugenia Renderos was named the Player of the Game for the X-Women.

\r\n

On Sunday, the X-Women hosted the Tigers from Dalhousie and came out on top. Emma Morrison scored the lone goal of the game in the 33rd minute and StFX ended the regular season on a winning note.

\r\n

The X-Women racked up a 6-4-3 regular season record with 22 points and finished 4th in the standings. The team advanced to the AUS championship tournament which will be played next weekend in Halifax at Husky Stadium.

\r\n

StFX will play in the second quarterfinal on Friday October 31st against the host Huskies. Dalhousie takes on UPEI in the other quarterfinal.

\r\n

The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to play either Cape Breton or Memorial. The number one ranked Capers will play the lowest seed that advances in one semifinal, while the Seahawks will take on the highest seed advancing. The semifinals go on Saturday November 1st with the winners of each game advancing to the final on Sunday November 2nd at 2 pm.
