Weekend split for X-Women

Sep 22, 2008 - The soccer X-Women remain in the middle of the pack in the AUS standings after a win and a loss this past weekend. Saturday afternoon in Halifax, the X-Women dropped a close 2-1 decision to the second place Dalhousie Tigers. Kate MacDonald and Sarah Lye were the goal scorers for the Tigers while X-Women Sarah Mitchell broke the shoutout with a goal at the 90 minute mark of the game. Mitchell was named the Player of the Game for X while Sarah Lye earned the nod for the Tigers.
Sunday afternoon the X-Women faired better, shutting out the Mount Allison Mounties by a 3-0 score. Heidi Felderhof earned the win in nets for the X-Women, who earned thier third win on the season. Amy MacKinnon opened the scoring for StFX scoring in the first minute of the game, while Teresa Morrison and Jessica Gray also found the back of the Mounties net. Allie Anderson was named Player of the Game for StFX, with Nicole McMillan receiving the honor for Mount A.

The 3-2-0 X-Women currently sit in a tie for fifth place overall with Saint Mary\\\\\\'s with 8 points a piece and will be in tough this Friday afternoon as they travel to Cape Breton to meet the 3-1-2 defending national champion Capers. Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm the X-Women will host the UNB Varsity Reds (1-3-2) at the StFX soccer pitch.
