X-Women handle Tommies 88-0

The CIS ranked No. 1 X-Women rugby team earned their first win of the AUS regular season with a decisive 88-0 shutout over the St. Thomas Tommies Sunday afternoon in Fredericton. The X-Women rebounded after a 44-13 loss Friday night at home to Acadia.

The defending AUS champions got off to a blistering pace, scoring 59 points in the first half. First year center Brianna Allison from Cole Harbour, N.S. scored four tries in the game to lead the X-Women attack and was named Subway Player of the Game.

Catharine MacKeigan scored two tries, while single tries were tallied by Ashley Brooker, Angelina MacLellan, Kaitlin VanSteeg, Crya Humber, Jaelei Meyer, Sara Gandy, Brooke Newsome and Danielle Robb.
With many new faces to the starting line-up, several X-Women scored the first try of their AUS career.

The StFX scoring was rounded out by veteran center Vanessa Duffley who booted seven conversions, and freshman fullback Dominique Lalande with two conversions.
Next on the schedule for the X-Women (1-1) is another game on the road on September 15th to Halifax when they will take on the Saint Mary's Huskies (1-0).
