Beukeboom earns AUS Athlete of the Week honors

ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY SPORT SUBWAY ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Tyson Beukeboom of the CIS No. 3 ranked and defending AUS champion StFX women’s rugby team is the Atlantic University Sport Subway Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 19th, 2010. Tyson, a #8 player, is a second year Human Kinetics student from Oxbridge, ON. She played another strong game for the X-Women this past weekend in their 67-0 shutout win over the Saint Mary’s Huskies on Sunday afternoon, improving StFX’s season record to 2-0. Beukeboom was a force throughout the contest as she scored 10 points for the X-Women with two tries in the game, and currently leads the 2010 Atlantic conference scoring race with 20 points scored. Tyson was a tournament all-star at the 2009 CIS Women’s Rugby Championship and was named the X-Women’s rookie of the year.

Keeper Adam Miller of the CIS No. 5 ranked Saint Mary’s Huskies men’s soccer team is the Atlantic University Sport Subway Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 19th, 2010. Miller, a first year student-athlete from Halifax, N.S., picked up a pair of road wins this past weekend as the Huskies improved their regular season record to a perfect 4-0-0. On Saturday, Adam picked up his third consecutive shutout in as many starts, as Saint Mary’s blanked the UPEI Panthers by a score of 3-0 in Charlottetown. Sunday afternoon at Mount Allison, Miller allowed just his first goal of the season in a 5-1 road win over the Mounties. Adam is currently tied for the Atlantic conference lead in shutouts (3), goals against average (0.25) and wins with four.
