Fredericton, NB – The STFX X-Women triumphed 3-1 Monday evening over the St. Thomas Tommies in Game 4 of the best-of-five AUS semifinal series. With the win, the X-Women tie the series at 2-2, setting the stage for a decisive Game 5 showdown Thursday night in Antigonish.

The opening period saw both teams hungry for victory. The Tommies scored first while on the power play, as Trinity Webber found the back of the net at 12:44. Despite facing relentless pressure, STFX managed to keep the deficit to just one goal, tallying 13 shots compared to STU's eight in the opening frame.

In the second period, the X-Women came out firing, leveling the score with a goal from captain Maggy Burbidge at 8:34 as she took a pass from Ella VandeSompel and roofed the puck past Katie Sweeney in the STU net.

Moments later, Burbidge scored her second goal of the night while shorthanded. Landyn Pitts dumped the puck in and Burbidge squeezed past a pair of Tommies defenders to lift the puck in with a well-placed shot, putting X ahead 2-1 heading into the final period.

With time winding down in the third, the Tommies fought desperately to even the score, but STFX's defense held strong, denying any late-game heroics.

With just seconds remaining, Anna MacCara capitalized on an empty net opportunity, sealing the victory for the X-Women with the final 3-1 score.

Burbidge was honoured as the STFX player of the game for her two-goal performance, while Webber was named player of the game for the Tommies.

STFX dominated the shot count with 39 attempts compared to STU's 22, showcasing their offensive prowess throughout the game.

With the series now knotted at 2-2, the stage is set for a deciding Game 5 showdown that will determine who advances to the AUS finals. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm Thursday evening at STFX's Charles V. Keating Centre.
