Moncton, NB – The U SPORTS No. 6 ranked STFX X-Women picked up their fourth consecutive win to stay undefeated early in the AUS season as they played to a 3-1 victory over the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues Friday night.

It was Moncton who got on the board first as Emilie Lalancette's point shot through traffic found its way into the back of the X net five minutes into the first period.

The X-Women answered with a goal from McKiya Mazur at the 9:45 mark as she picked up a loose puck in front of the Moncton goal and buried it home.

The 1-1 tie remained after 20 minutes of play as STFX were outshot 13-8 by the Aigles Bleues.

The visitors got more pucks on net in the second period and capitalized on a power play opportunity later in the period as Mackenzie Lothian scored what would hold up to be the game winner. She took a cross ice pass from Ellie Brown at the point, skated in to the top of the face-off circle and wired a shot that beat Moncton netminder Annick Boudeau far side.

The goal was the lone one of the middle period as the X-Women led 2-1 after two, having a 15-6 shot advantage in the second.

The X-Women continued to outshoot the Aigles Bleues in the third period but Boudreau was solid in the Moncton net. The only scoring came with 11 seconds left to play when Kamdyn Switzer scored an empty net insurance goal for STFX.

Final shots in the game favored the X-Women at 38-26. Brooklyn Oakes earned the win in the STFX net with 25 saves on the night.

Boudreau had 35 saves in the loss for Moncton and earned the nod as her team's player of the game. Lothian was named the STFX player of the game.

The X-Women will be back in action on Saturday night as they travel to Fredericton to take on the St. Thoams Tommies. Moncton will host Dalhousie on Saturday night. Puck drop for both games is 7:00 pm.
