X-Women announce signing of Team Manitoba captain McKiya Mazur

ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX X-Women hockey head coach Ben Berthiaume is happy to report the signing of forward McKiya Mazur for the 2020-21 season.

Mazur comes to the X-Women program from the Rink Hockey Academy of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League. In 17 league games, Mazur has 10 goals and 10 assists.

Known for her foot speed and high compete level, the Russell, Man. native is a versatile player who plays all three forward positions. "The signing of McKiya adds more depth to our forward group," comments Coach Berthiaume. "She is versatile, plays an up-tempo game that we like from our forwards and is a solid play maker."

"Her speed is very noticeable and will be impactful from the start of her time with us," he continues. "Additionally, she plays a heads-up, gritty game, which will complement our forward group. During her recruit visit, McKiya fit in well with our girls and showed lots of personality and a solid knowledge of the game, which we look forward to working with on a daily basis."

The addition of Mazur makes four new forwards for the 2020-21 X-Women roster, as she joins fellow recruits Kristen Marshall (Whitby, ON), Chloe Oleksiuk (Winnipeg, MB) and Abby Lewis (Kanata, ON).
