Pitts and MacQuarrie named co-female athletes of the week

X-Women hockey defense Jenna Pitts was named the co-StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24, 2013. Jenna, a third year human kinetics student from Antigonish, NS was named the tournament MVP as she helped guide the X-Women to an AUS championship victory this past weekend in Sackville, NB. In three tournament games Jenna scored three goals, including the game winner in Thursday’s opening 3-1 win over Mount A. She also took home player of the game honors in that game and was named to the tournament all-star team. Named an AUS second team all-star this week, Jenna was third amongst defenseman in AUS scoring with nine points on the regular season.

X-Women track & field sprinter Eilish MacQuarrie was named the co-StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24, 2013. Eilish, a second year human kinetics student from Antigonish, NS won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at the AUS track & field championship this past weekend in Moncton. She took home top honors in the 300m race with a time of 41.1 seconds, and followed up with a bronze (1:38.62) in the 600m event. Eilish also won gold as a member of the 4x400m relay team, and picked up a silver medal with the 4x200m relay team. She rounded out the weekend with a sixth place showing in the 60m dash.
