Hockey X-Women wrap up regular season

The StFX X-Women wrapped up a 23-1 regular season in AUS play with a pair of weekend road victories. The blue and white ended the campaign on an 18-game winning streak.

Sunday afternoon, the CIS #5-ranked team skated to a 1-0 win over the UPEI Panthers in Charlottetown.
 
Kristy Garrow recorded the shutout, which gave her a perfect 11-0 mark on the season. She only allowed nine goals in the regular season, while recording a 0.80 goals against average. She made 19 saves for the victory.
 
Daniela Falconio scored the only goal of the game at 3:47 of the second period on assists from Molly MacDonald and Jessica McCullough.
 
Saturday afternoon, the X-Women scored a convincing 6-1 win over the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville, N.B.
 
Falconio, from Molly MacDonald, opened the scoring at 3:18 of the first period. The Mounties tied it at 14:22 on a goal by Shelby Colton from Randi Sullivan.
 
The X-Women jumped to a 3-1 lead after two periods on goals from Abygail Laking and Schyler Campbell. MacDonald and Falconio chipped in on the Laking marker, while Jenna Pitts drew the lone assist on the Campbell goal.
 
Erin Brophy, from Alex Normore, gave the X-Women a 4-1 lead at 1:20 of the third period. Campbell, with her second, and Pitts scored the final X-Women goals. Taylor Dale had the lone assists on both tallies.
 
The X-Women outshot the Mounties 40-16.
 
Katie Greenway backstopped the blue and white to the win with 15 saves.
 
Next weekend, the X-Women will be the top seed in the Subway AUS Championship Tournament, which will be hosted by the Mounties, from Feb. 21-24.
