X-Women beat Huskies in OT
The CIS ranked No. 5 X-Women kept their winning streak alive but they needed overtime to do it as they defeated Saint Mary’s 2-1 Wednesday night in Halifax. AUS leading scorer and reigning MVP Alex Normore notched the game winning goal 3:17 into the overtime period.

Huskies goaltender Bria Sharkey stopped 30 pucks as StFX outshot Saint Mary’s by a lopsided 32-11 margin in the game. Kristy Garrow earned the win in the StFX net.

The visiting blue and white opened up the scoring in the game at 12:04 of the first period as fourth year forward Brittney Perkins scored while shorthanded. Jenna Downey assisted on the goal.

The 1-0 lead until the Huskies scored in the third period on one of only two shots on goal in the final frame. Sarah Maynard scored at 8:46 from Kaylan Palsat.

Downey picked up her second assist of the game on Normore’s overtime goal as the X-Women improve to 21-1-0 on the season.

Next on the schedule are two games on the road as the X-Women travel to Mount Allison (6-12-4) on Saturday, Feb. 16th, followed by a game in Charlottetown Sunday evening against the UPEI Panthers (12-9-1).
