Ferguson named AUS Athlete of the Week

Brayden Ferguson of the #7-ranked StFX X-Women’s hockey team is the Atlantic University Sport Subway Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 18th, 2009. Brayden, a fifth year Arts student from Toronto, ON tallied a total of 10 points in a pair X-Women wins this past weekend. In the process, she notched her AUS record 100th career goal and passed SMU’s Lindsay Taylor to become the Atlantic conference’s all-time leader in career points scored. In StFX’s 10-2 win over the UPEI Panthers, Ferguson scored three goals and added three assists, and in Sunday’s 6-0 shutout victory over the Mount Allison Mounties, she registered another four assists. Ferguson is currently second in league scoring this season with 23 points in 14 games. In 93 career regular season contests with the X-Women program, Brayden, the reigning AUS and CIS Player of the Year, has recorded 100 goals and 86 assists for 186 points. SMU’s Taylor had 184 points from 2002-03 to 2006-07.
