Ice X-Women keep streak alive

Feb 4, 2008 - The X-Women hockey team kept their season-long undefeated streak intact with another win this past weekend, this time over the Saint Mary’s Huskies as they defeated their second place rivals 6-2 at the Keating Centre Saturday afternoon. Jessica Shanahan opened the scoring for the X-Women with a power play goal 11 minutes into the first period but Saint Mary’s Kori Cheverie tied it up two and a half minutes later. The X-Women then scored four unanswered goals in the second period to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Goals came form the sticks of Lindsay Brown, Brayden Ferguson (PP) Player of the Game Suzanne Fenerty and Amanda Church (PP). Courtney Shriver scored a power play goal for the Huskies before the end of the second period and Anna Barrett added StFX’s final goal in the third period to round out the scoring. Kelly Boudreau contributed with three assists for the X-Women while Marilynn Hay assisted on two X goals. The X-Women outshot the Huskies 36-24 in the game and Katie Harvieux earned the win in nets while Jillian MacIsaac took the loss.

The first place 17-0 X-Women will host two more games this weekend at the Keating Centre as the St. Thomas Tommies (9-7) will be in town Saturday afternoon and the UPEI Panthers (2-13) Sunday afternoon. Gametime both days is 2:00 pm
