X-Women remain undefeated

Nov 12, 2007 - The hockey X-Women improved upon thier undefeated season with a couple of 8-0 wins this past weekend, earning victories over UPEI and St. Thomas. On Saturday afternoon in Charlottetown, the X-Women outshot the UPEI Panthers 53-16 en route to the 8-0 romp. Lindsay Brown scored a hattrick for the X-Women while league leading goal scorer Brayden Ferguson scored two goals, as did Jessica Shanahan. Christina Davis added a single marker to round out the scoring for X who led 2-0 after the first period and 5-0 after the second. Crystal Stewart earned the win in nets for the X-Women while Elizabeth Legay took the loss for the Panthers.\r\n\r\nOn Sunday afternoon in Fredericton, the X-Women replicated their 8-0 win on Saturday with another dominant 8-0 win over the St. Thomas Tommies. Jesscia Shanahan scored two goals, giving her a six point weekend, while Catie Gavin also notched two goals for the blue and white who established a 1-0 lead after the first period, a 3-0 lead after the second then opened it up in the final frame with five more goals. Amanda Church, Suzanne Fenerty, Anna Barrett and Carolyn Campbell all scored single goals for StFX who outshot their opponents 37-19 in the game. Brayden Ferguson and Marilynn Hay each contributed three assists each while Katie Harvieux earned the win in nets for the X-Women. Liette Arsenault took the loss for the Tommies.\r\n\r\nThe wins add to the X-Women's undefeated season to date, improving their record to 8-0-0 with 16 points atop first place in the AUS. They will take a break from AUS competition this weekend and will host three QSSF opponents in exhibition play. Friday night the CIS #1 ranked McGill Martlets will be in town at the Keating Centre for a 7pm game, while the X-Women will host the Concordia Stingers Saturday at 2pm and the Ottawa GeeGee's Sunday at 2pm.
