ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX Athletics has announced that X-Women basketball head coach LeeAnna Osei has been released from her position effective immediately. 

"With only a few months left in Coach Osei's contract, it was only natural that we started looking at the direction and progression of the program - where we are and where we need to be," commented StFX Director of Athletics & Recreation Leo MacPherson. "Appreciating that a change is needed, we felt the timing was right to make a change. We will take advantage of the holiday break in the AUS schedule to retool for the remainder of the season."

Coach Osei has guided the X-Women basketball program for the past three and a half seasons, coming to StFX in June, 2018. Over two and a half seasons (2020-21 season cancelled due to COVID), she amassed an AUS regular season record of five wins and 44 losses and a career record of 13-54. Prior to coming to STFX, Coach Osei was the women's basketball head coach of The RISE Centre (TRC) Academy in Brantford, Ont.

StFX Athletics will begin their search for an interim head coach of the X-Women basketball program immediately.
