X-Women 2-1 at Don Grant Classic

The StFX X-Women posted a 2-1 record in pre-season basketball action at the Don Grant Classic in Moncton over the weekend.
 
Sunday morning, the Acadia Axewomen rallied for a 70-69 win over the X-Women.
 
Acadia outscored StFX 27-14 in the fourth quarter.
 
Kolbi Roper led the blue and white with 21 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Fifth-year senior Lia St. Pierre collected 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. Guard Vanessa Pickard also hit double digits with 19 points.
 
Maya Macatumpag led the Axewomen with 16 points.  
 
Saturday, the X-Women defeated the UNB Varsity Reds 64-55.
 
Roper led four blue-and-white players in double figures with 20 points, while adding eight rebounds.
 
St. Pierre added 10 points, along with 13 rebounds, five assists, one steal and one blocked shot. Pickard and Lindsay Lessard each contributed 12 points.
 
Katelyn Mangold and Colleen Daly led the Varsity Reds with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
 
The X-Women opened the tournament with a 61-57 win over the UPEI Panthers.
 
St. Pierre led the blue and white with a double-double – 15 points and 18 rebounds, including 14 off the defensive glass. She added six assists and two steals in an all-around effort.
 
Pickard and Lessard also scored in double figures with 14 points apiece.
 
Amy Gough led the Panthers with 10 points.
 
The X-Women are back on the court Wednesday, Nov. 6, when they open the AUS regular season at home versus the rival Cape Breton University Capers at Oland Centre.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
