X-Women tame Tigers in Halifax
The StFX X-Women outpaced the Dalhousie Tigers in Halifax Tuesday night, playing to an 83-73 victory. Subway player of the game Lia St. Pierre scored a game-high 29 points for the X-Women in the victory, her highest-scoring tally to date in AUS regular season play.

The X-Women got out to a high scoring 32-26 lead after the first quarter of play, including five buckets form three-point range. They opened up a 12 point lead (43-31) at halftime, holding the Tigers to only five points in the second quarter.

The third quarter, however, belonged to the home town Tigers as they outscored the X-Women 28-17, steadily closing the lead until they were down by a single point at 60-59 after thirty minutes. StFX regrouped for the final quarter, putting in a 23-14 performance en route to the victory, their ninth of the season.

Along with her 29 points, St. Pierre had nine rebounds and three assists in the game for the X-Women. Kolbi Roper scored 15 and had five rebounds, while Rebecca Sheehan and Vanessa Pickard each scored 12 points. Sheehan added three rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals, while Pickard had six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Leading the Tigers was Keisha Brown with 28 points, including 6 for 10 from three-point range. Anna VonMaltzahn had a double-double evening with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Courtney Thompson contributed 11 points.

The Tigers fall to 9-8 on the season and are in fourth place, two points back of the third place X-Women, now 9-7. Next on the AUS schedule for StFX is a pair of game in Charlottetown against the sixth place UPEI Panthers (5-11). Friday night, Feb. 15th, the teams tip-off at 6:00 pm, followed by a 4:00 pm match-up on Saturday.
