X-Women fall to Tigers
The X-Women basketball team resumed AUS action this past Saturday in Halifax and dropped a 71-64 game to the Dalhousie Tigers.

The Tigers held leads after the first quarter (17-14) and at halftime (31-27), then opened up that lead to 54-41 after three quarters of play. The X-Women were within five points with three minutes to play in the game, but the Tigers once again pulled away and hung on for the win.

Player of the game Courtnay Thompson scored 21 points for the Tigers, as did Keisha Brown. Robbi Daley added 12 points and Anna Von maltzahn scored 9 points and had 13 rebounds.

Lia St. Pierre led all scorers in the game with 24 points for the X-Women. She also had 6 rebounds. Kolbi Roper had a double-double game with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Rebecca Sheehan added 13 points for X who were 41.5% from field goal range, compared to the Tigers 37.1%.

Dalhousie was 8 for 23 from three-points range (62.5%), while the X-Women were 18.2 % (2 for 11). The Tigers were 55.0% from the free throw line and the X-Women were 42.1%.

With the win, Dalhousie improves to 6-2 on the season and currently sit in a tie for second place in the AUS with Acadia (6-1), both teams with 16 points, four back of first place Saint Mary’s (7-0). The X-Women drop to 4-4 and are in fourth place with 14 points.

Next on the X-Women schedule is a home game against the Cape Breton Capers (2-5) on Tuesday evening, January 8th. Game time is 6:00 pm at the StFX Oland Centre.
