X-Women vs. Sea-Hawks Basketball Preview

The StFX X-Women will fly to St. John’s, NF to take on the Memorial Sea-Hawks in back-to-back action in games scheduled for Saturday, February 17th at 6:00pm and Sunday, February 18th at 11:00am. Memorial is currently eight points ahead of StFX but with two weekend victories, the X-Women would be tied for fourth place in the conference with the Sea-Hawks at 26 points, as each game is worth four points in the standings.

Sea-Hawks:  9-7 record with 26 points, fourth place in AUS conference

X-Women:  8-9 record with 18 points, sixth place in AUS conference

X-Women vs. Sea-Hawks:  This weekend will mark the first time the X-Women and Sea-Hawks will play each other this regular season when they clash on Saturday.  Memorial has had the edge in points this season on the X-Women, but the blue and white have a chance to gain some ground and move into a tie with Memorial for fourth place if they win both games.

Key Players:  Memorial is led by Alexandria Forsey and Robyn O’Rielly who have both been instrumental in the Sea-Hawks’ success this season. Forsey is fifth place in AUS scoring averaging 16.3 points per game, while O’Reilly is tied for ninth in AUS scoring averaging 14.3 points per game.

The X-Women have a two-headed monster of their own, as Vanessa Pickard and Donisha Young lead the blue and white into the weekend. Pickard, an AUS rookie, is sixth in AUS scoring, averaging 15.5 points per game while Young is eighth in AUS scoring averaging 14.5 points per game and is third in AUS rebounding, averaging 8.2 boards/game.

Game Notes:

The X-Women have been without the services of star forward Kirsten Jones for the last three games as she is nursing a leg injury.

Memorial is dominating the offensive game in the country, sitting in first place in three point percentage, free throw percentage and assists per game.

The X-Women are 13th in the nation in assists per game, and 13th in field goals made per game.
