X-Women beat Tigers 62-60 in last minute thriller
The StFX X-Women won a last minute 62-60 thriller Wednesday night in Antigonish over the Dalhousie Tigers. Veteran post Kirsten Jones netted the tray with four seconds left on the clock after a great pass from rookie Vanessa Pickard who stole the ball from her Tiger opponent to set up the play.

Pickard and Jones both had 17 points to pace the X-Women, who improve to 5-5 on the season.

Cailen Crosby led the Tigers to a close finish, scoring 17 points as well.

Also contributing to the win, Donisha Young and Rebecca Sheehan scored 11 and 7 points respectively for the X-Women.

The blue and white shot 32.1 % from the field and 28.6% from three point range.

The X-Women dominated the first quarter outscoring the Tigers 21-9, only to be dominated in the second quarter, getting outscored 21-10. The third and fourth quarters were very even, with both teams trying to get the upper hand.

The score was deadlocked at 60-60 when Vanessa Pickard used poise and patience to wait for Kirsten Jones to get open, only for Jones to hit an easy deuce.

With the win the X-Women sit in fifth place with a 6-5 record and 12 points.  They currently sit two points back of rival Cape Breton, who they will host this coming Saturday, January 21st. Game time is 6:00 pm at the StFX Oland Centre and fans are encouraged to wear white for the game for the annual Bud Light White-out event.
