X-Women basketball drops 90-83 decision to UPEI Panthers
The StFX X-Women dropped a 90-83 decision to the UPEI Panthers in AUS basketball action Sunday afternoon in Charlottetown.

Amy Gough led the Panthers (2-8) with 24 points and nine rebounds in a key four-point victory.

X-Women freshman guard Vanessa Pickard picked up 23 points, six rebounds and four assists, while fifth-year post Kirsten Jones added 19 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Off the bench, Kolbi Roper and Anne Kiberd scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
 
The blue and white shot 41.1 percent (30-73) from the field, including 38.9 percent (7-18) from three-point range.

The X-Women dominated the interior, outscoring the Panthers 36-16 in the paint.
 
The Panthers led 42-36 at halftime.

After the X-Women cut the lead to one (57-56) at the end of the third quarter, the Panthers held on for the seven-point home win.

With the loss, the X-Women have a 4-5 record for eight points. They are tied for fifth place in the conference with the UNB Varsity Reds.

StFX returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. when they host the Dalhousie Tigers at Oland Centre.
