X-Women Freeze Tigers

X-Women Freeze Tigers
The StFX X-Women knocked off the Dalhousie Tigers 89-57 this past Saturday on the road.

The X-Women held the Dalhousie Tigers to 57 points including a seven point first quarter and a thirteen point second quarter which deflated the opposing Tigers. Along with holding the Tigers to such a low scoring total, the X-Women did their job on the offensive end scoring 89 points on a combined 76 shots while shooting 42 percent for the game.

In what seems to be a trending statement, fifth year student Ashley Stephen lead the way once again for the X-Women as she finished the game with 18 points and seven rebounds while Antigonish native Sheryl Chisholm had 17 points. Donisha Young also chipped in 11 points.

The first quarter set the tone for the X-Women. Ashley Stephen who usually creates the most havoc on the defensive side of the ball finished the game with four steals and was a huge factor in getting the game started on the right foot for the X-Women.

X cooled down in the second quarter on the offensive end, scoring only 13 points but kept their defence strong keeping a sizable lead.

The third and fourth quarters the X-Women scored a combined 47 points while holding the Tigers to just 37 points.

The X-Women never lost a quarter Saturday night and never let the Tigers score more than 20 points in a single frame.

The X-Women did kept control of the ball only giving up 13 turnovers on the game while forcing Dalhousie into 28.

X-Women next see action this Saturday night at home against Acadia.
