X-Men track compete at nationals

The X-Men sent a small contingent of runners to the CIS championship this past weekend in Windsor, ON.

Veteran fifth year runner John Corbit (Antigonish, NS) competed in both the 1000m and 1500m races. He placed 9th overall in the 1000m, running in a time of 2:36.29. Matt Hulse from Queen’s University was the winner at 2:25.08. IN the 1500m race John was unable to finish. Defending CIS cross country champion Kyle Boorsma won the race in a time of 3:49.53, ahead of Hulse (3:50.94).

Second year runner Petr Doubravsky (Sumperk, Czech Republic) competed in the 3000m race, coming in 12th place overall. Petr ran in a time of 8:54.91, while the winner, Boorsma finished at 8:15.09.

\r\n

Doubravsky and Corbit were also members of the X-Men 4x800m relay team, along with Kenton Sportak (Calgary, AB) and Kyle Tramble (Dartmouth, NS). The relay team placed 10th in the race, finishing with a time of 7:54.86. The team from the University of Victoria took CIS honors running at 7:37.62 and were followed by the University of Toronto (7:38.07) and Laval University (7:38.12).

The CIS championship wraps up the indoor season for the X-Men track and field team.
