Corbit wins 1500m race

The X-Men track and field team competed in an indoor invitational hosted by Dalhousie University this past Saturday, Feb. 6th.

The X-Men fielded participants in the following events:  300m, 600m, 1500m shot put and weight throw.

\r\n

In the 300m dash, Derek Munden was the top StFX finisher in fifth spot, running in a time of 38.7 seconds. Nathaniel Minichiello was sixth at 39.0 seconds, and teammates Ryan Hawkrigg (39.9), Olajide Ojuawo (40.1) and Stuart MacNeil (40.8) were 8th, 9th and 10th, respectively.

In the men’s 600m race, Kyle Tramble placed third for the X-Men, crossing the line at 1:24.8, while Minichiello was 1:29.6 in sixth and Hawkrigg (1:30.2) was seventh.

Six X-Men participated in the 1500m race and John Corbit came out on top, placing first overall with a time of 3:51.9. Petr Doubravsky was right behind him in second at 3:54.2, while Kenton Sportak placed sixth overall with a time of 4:07.5. Brent Addison (4:09.5) ran in ninth place, followed by Ivan Lewis (4:19.5) and Robert Lavers (4:24.8) in 19th.

Stuart Walsh competed in the shot put and weight throw for the X-Men. He placed sixth overall in the shot put with a 12.86m throw and fourth in the weight throw with a 12.23m.

The X-Men will have a break from competition this weekend and will return to Dalhousie on Saturday, Feb. 20th for the final meet prior to the Feb. 26-28 AUS championship at the Universite de Moncton.
