X-Men run at DAL meet

The X-Men indoor track team travelled to Halifax Sunday for their second meet of the season hosted by Dalhousie University. The StFX team competed in the 300m, 600, 1000m and 3000m running events.

Five X-Men ran the 300m race with Jide Ojuawo the first X-Men across the line in fourth place overall with a time of 38.9 seconds. Teammates Nathaniel Minichiello (39.1) and Derek Burden (39.2) were right behind him in fifth and sixth places, respectively. Ryan Hawkrigg (40.0) was ninth and Stuart MacNeil (41.7) was 11th.

In the 600m event, Minichiello placed third overall with a time of 1:29.9, followed by Hawkrigg in fourth at 1:30.50 and MacNeil in seventh at 1:33.32. Three X-Men ran in the 1000m race with John Corbit earning the top spot, crossing the finish line in first place in 2:30.6. Kenton Sportak was third overall at 2:39.1 and Kyle Tramble was fourth for X, finishing at 2:39.3.

In the 3000m distance event, Petr Doubravsky came in second place with a time of 8:37.5 as Russell Christie from Dalhousie placed first at 8:28.4. Robert Winslow (8:55.1), David Gerych (8:57.1) and Connor MacGuire (8:59.9) placed 3-4-5 for StFX in the race behind Doubravsky. Robert Lavers (9:22.1) also competed in the 3000m and was 12th overall. Other X-Men running the race were Ivan Lewis (9:26.9) in 13th, Zach MacDonald (9:40.3) in 17th and Aaron Doucette (9:45.4) in 20th.

Next on the X-Men schedule is an interlock meet in Montreal at McGill University on Jan. 29-30.
