Addison claims top spot in men's 3000m race

The StFX track and field team participated in their second indoor meet of the season this past Sunday at Dalhousie University in Halifax, with several team members participating in both sprint and long distance events.

On the men’s side, the X-Men 4x200m relay team consisting of Sam Boateng, Chris Brayley, John MacLellan, and Cauchy Muamba, placed second with a time of 1:43.5. Dalhousie took top honors in 1:32.5.

\r\n

John MacLellan was the lone X-Men participant in the 300m dash, placing 3rd (37.9) amongst a field of 10 competitors.

\r\n

In the men’s 600m race, Stuart MacNeil took 7th spot with a time of 1:33.5 while teammate Kris Wignes crossed the line in 9th spot in 1:37.4.

\r\n

Kyle Tramble was the only X-Men in the 1000m event, and he placed 6th with a time of 2:38.9.  There were 13 competitors in the event.

Five X-Men competed in the 3000m distance event with blue and white racers claiming the top three spots. Brent Addison won the race with a time of 8:55.3. Teammates Robert Lavers (9:14.0) and Matt MacDonald (9:15.8) placed second and third, respectively. Taylor Doucette came in 12th place at 9:40.9 and Andrew Freme was 16th at 10:02.8.

Next on the schedule for the X-Men is an interlock meet at McGill University in Montreal on January 30-31.
