X-Women track & field sprinter Eilish MacQuarrie is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Eilish recently completed her second year with the X-Women and is a Human Kinetics student from Antigonish, NS.

Nickname:  Lash, Eili

What brought you to StFX?
I originally wanted to leave Antigonish, but after spending the winter of my grade 12 year training with the X track team I realized how much I loved the team, the coaches, and the entire atmosphere surrounding the team. The great Human Kinetics program and the X-ring were also factors that brought me here!

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
Running the 4x400m relay at the AUS championship this year was by far my favourite moment in a StFX uniform. We went into the race as underdogs, just hoping to make it onto the podium, and ended up winning the AUS title and setting a StFX record. The excitement of everyone after we finished was unforgettable and sharing this experience with the 3 other girls made it even better!

One thing I cannot live without is…?
Cheesy I know…but my teammates and friends, they always have my back!

If I could have super-hero powers I would…?
I would love to have super speed. I hate walking places and always try to walk as fast as possible to not prolong it. It also wouldn't hurt to have super speed for races!

My biggest pet peeve is…?
Slow walkers for the same reason as above

My dream vacation destination is…?
Scotland or Australia

My dream job is…?
Any job that I don't mind getting out of bed for

Tell us one thing that fans may not know about you?
I Highland danced for 10 years before joining track in high school
