MacDonald & McGuire compete at CIS championship

A pair of StFX track and field distance runners travelled to Winnipeg this past weekend to compete at the CIS national championship.

Fifth year X-Women runner Kelly MacDonald competed in the 3000m race and with a time of 9:59.44, placed eighth overall. MacDonald was ranked 17th in the country heading into the event so the eighth place finish was a great showing.  She was the only AUS runner to compete in the event that featured 12 of the top runners from across Canada. Lindsay Carson of McMaster won the race in a time of 9:34.37.

Third year X-Men runner Connor McGuire also competed in the 3000m race at nationals on the men’s side. McGuire placed tenth overall in a race that featured 12 runners. His time was 8:32.09. Matt Walters of Windsor was the winner, posting a time of 8:10.22.

McGuire and MacDonald were the lone representatives from StFX to qualify for the national event hosted by the University of Manitoba.
