MacDonald posts PB in 1500m

The X-Women track and field team competed in an indoor invitational hosted by Dalhousie University this past Saturday, Feb. 6th.

The X-Women fielded participants in the following events:  300m, 600m, 1500m shot put and weight throw.

\r\n

Eugenia Renderos nabbed top spot in the 300m dash, clocking in at 42.1 seconds. She was followed by teammate Joelle Marshall in second place at 42.4 seconds. Also competing in the 300m for the X-Women were Jaclyn Phillips( 44.1) in fourth, Heidi Stirling (44.3) in fifth, Katie Barnstead (46.3) in seventh and Sarah Deveau (46.6) in eighth.

Marshall took home the top spot in the 600m race, winning with a time of 1:37.9 amongst 8 competitors. Teammates Celeste Black (1:41.8) and Katie Barnstead (1:43.4) came in second and third, respectively right behind her.

In the women’s 1500m race, Kelly MacDonald ran a personal best time of 4:32.6, shaving eight seconds off her previous PB en route to a third place finish behind top runners Ashley Ryer (4:30.1) of SMU and Caroline Schlosser (4:30.9) of DAL. Monika Preibischova wasn’t far behind her in fourth place at 4:35.5.

Also running in the 1500m for the X-Women were Bree Bates who placed seventh with a time of 4:54.2, Bre Langley (4:56.5) in tenth, Erin MacNeil (5:00.2) in 12th, Helena Fiore (5:03.6) in 14th and Brittany Morris (5:15.0) in 19th.

Chantal Paris and Bobbi-Jo Cronk both competed in the shot put and weight throw events for the X-Women. Paris placed third overall in the shot put with a throw of 9.74m, while Cronk was fifth at 9.69m. in the weight throw, Cronk threw an 11.21m good enough for second place, while Paris was behind her in third with a 9.53m throw.

The X-Women will have a break from competition this weekend and will return to Dalhousie on Saturday, Feb. 20th for the final meet prior to the Feb. 26-28 AUS championship at the Universite de Moncton.
