X-Men cross country teammates and Czech Republic country-mates David Gerych and Petr Doubravsky are a force to be reckoned with on the running trails this fall. At the Laval Invitational meet held Saturday in Quebec, they placed first (Gerych) and second (Doubravsky) respectively amongst competitors from 11 AUS and QSSF teams, and in doing so led the X-Men to a first place finish with 33 points. Gerych crossed the finish line in a time of 24:43.79 and in doing so defeated last year's CIS champion Alex Genest from Sherbrooke, who finished fourth overall. Doubravky's time was 24:52.18 while Dalhousie's Russel Christie (25:00.25) was third. Lee McCarron was the next X-Man to corss the line, in 7th place at 25:42.66, while X teammates Brent Addision (26:04.64) and Robert Winslow (26:27.79) finished 11th and 15th.

Also running the 8k race for the X-Men were Dan McNeil, 18th (26:49.52); Matt MacDonald, 30th (27:31.77); Taylor Doucette, 31st (27:39.41), Sam Mason, 34th (27:43.61) and Kyle Tramble, 55th (29:07.87). A total of 75 university runners took part with the X-Men earning their fourth consecutive team win with the 33 points. Sherbrooke placed second overall (50) followed by McGill (61) and Laval (72).

Next on the schedule for the X-Men is the AUS cross country championship taking place Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Universite de Moncton.
