X runners victorious in StFX Invitational

Oct 7, 2007 - The X-Women and X-Men cross country teams were victorious at their own meet on Saturday afternoon as both teams took top AUS team honors in the StFX Invitational meet. In the women\\'s race, StFX runners finished 1-2-3-4-5 and ended up with 21 points overall to claim the top team honor. Acadia finished second with 91 points followed by UNB with 132 and Saint Mary\\'s with 149. The X-Women ran the race as a team with the top five runners finishing within 0.3 seconds of each other. Sarah Skotty earned the first place finish running the 5k race in a time of 19:29. Holly VanGestel and Monika Preibischova crossed the line at 19:30, followed by Robyn Erickson (19:31) and Gina Stewart (19:32). The X-Women had a total of 18 runners participate in the open race, with the following times and finshes:\r\n‰Û¢ Bre Langley, 19:38, 7th\r\n‰Û¢ Stephanie Babcock, 20:02, 9th\r\n‰Û¢ Heather Moser, 20:11, 11th\r\n‰Û¢ Kaitlyn Watters, 20:11, 12th\r\n‰Û¢ Paula MacDonald, 20:14, 14th\r\n‰Û¢ Helena Fiore, 20:17, 15th\r\n‰Û¢ Flynn Regan, 20:18, 16th\r\n‰Û¢ Kelly MacDonald, 20:40, 19th\r\n‰Û¢ Bree Bates, 20:45, 20th\r\n‰Û¢ Erin MacNeil, 21:05, 22nd\r\n‰Û¢ Tara Chisholm, 22:08, 26th\r\n‰Û¢ Vanda Mirovska, 22:28, 30th\r\n‰Û¢ Marika Pittman, 23:46, 38th\r\n\r\nIn the men\\'s 7.5k race, the X-Men took top honors finishing with 21 points and five runners in the top ten. Saint Mary\\'s was second with 73 points followed by UNB with 74. X-Man David Gerych crossed the line in first place with a time of 24:26. Teammate John Tramble followed in second place (26:06) while Dan MacNeil was fifth (26:31). This meet will also feature runners from the QSSF conference.
