Mar 20, 2008 - StFX cross country head coach Bernie Chisholm was recently appointed as an assistant coach of the Canadian cross country team for the 2008 World University Cross Country Championship to be held in Mauquenchy, France. "I am looking forward to the world championship and I feel that this is one of the stronger teams that Canada has ever sent to the event," comments Chisholm. "It is an honor to represent Canada in international competition and the world university championship in France should be a great experience."

Chisholm, who recently completed his 21st season as head coach of the StFX cross country team, joins head coach Shane Lakins from Queen’s University and assistant coaches Terry Goodenough from Waterloo and Vincent Paquet from Sherbrooke in completing the coaching staff of the national team, as selected by Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). The 16th Cross Country World University Championship is scheduled to take place April 5-6, 2008 in Mauquenchy, France and team Canada will be sending five female and six male runners. Peter Corrigan from the Dalhousie Tigers men’s cross country team joins Chisholm as the only other AUS representative on the team. At the 2006 World University Championship in Algeria the Canadian women placed seventh overall and the Canadian men placed eleventh, so both teams are looking to improve upon their finishes.
