Feb 4, 2008 - The StFX indoor track team continued competition this past weekend, this time at the Dalplex on the campus of Dalhousie University in Halifax. StFX sent runners to compete in the women’s 300m dash and 1000m run and the men’s and women’s 3000m races. In the 300m sprint, X-Women runners placed 1-2-3-4-5 amongst the AUS eligible competitors. Janet MacLeod came out on top finishing in first place with a time of 44.3. Teammate Margaret Hughes was second (44.4) and Mary Claire Boudreau was third (45.7). Rounding out the top five were Katie Barnstead in fourth (46.0) and Marika Pittman in fifth (48.9).

In the women’s 1000m race, Gina Stewart placed second overall with a time of 2:57.4. Heather Moser (3:02.1) and Bre Langley (3:06.7) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Also participating for X were Helena Fiore (3:13.8) in sixth, Paula MacDonald (3:17.7) in seventh, Dee Smith (3:23.5) in eighth and Erin MacNeil (3:23.9) in ninth.

In the 3000m event, it was a StFX podium sweep as Sarah Skotty ran to first place with a finishing time of 10:08.4, followed by Robyn Erickson in second at 10:28.3 and Bree Bates in third at 10:52.6. In the men’s 3000m event, StFX also had three runners compete with Matt MacDonald placing second overall (9:26.7) followed by Robert Lavers (9:30.8) in third and Brendon Chrus (9:33.0) in fourth.

Next on the schedule for the X track stars is another meet at Dalhousie this upcoming weekend.
