Stewart runs personal best, 4th in 3000m

Jan 28, 2008 - The StFX indoor track team traveled to Montreal this past weekend for the 13th annual McGill Team Challenge meet which featured over 500 athletes from all across the CIS. X runners participated in the women's 1000m event, men's and women's 1500m and 3000m races and the women's 4x800m relay. In the 1000m race, Heather Mosher placed 15th overall, posting a time of 3:04.16. Bre Langley was close behind in 17th place at 3:07.11. Mosher also ran the 1500m race and was the first X finisher in 9th place with a time of 4:46.55. Gina Stewart placed 15th (4:50.94) Robyn Erickson was 22nd (4:53.41) Sarah Skotty was 23rd (4:54.42) and Bre Langley placed 32nd (5:07.14). In the 3000m event Gina Stewart had an impressive showing, finishing fourth in the field of 30 runners, posting a time of 10:07.64. She beat her personal best by 18 seconds and is currently ranked sixth in Canada in the event. Also participating in the 3000m, Sarah Skotty and Robyn Erickson finished in the top ten as Skotty placed eighth (10:13.58) and Erickson ninth (10:17.49). In the 4x800m relay race the X-Women team consisting of Langley, Skotty, Mosher and Stewart placed fifth out of six teams, posting a time of 9:51.48. Dalhousie placed first, Western was second and Toronto was third. On the men's side of the competition in the 1500m race, Lee McCarron was 19th overall, finishing with a time of 4:04.00. Dan MacNeil was 38th with 4:15.09. In the 3000m race, MacNeil was the top X finisher in 12th place (8:49.52) while McCarron was 20th running in at 8:58.67. Brent Addison also ran and finished 29th with a time of 9:28.52. In the women's team standings, Guelph led the way with 83 points followed by Western (69.5) and York (35). The X-Women earned 5 points in 15th place. On the men's side Guelph were first as well with 68 points followed by Sherbrooke (50) and Western (44.5).
