Sydney, NS - The No. 3 seeded UNB Varsity Reds upset the No. 2 seeded StFX X-Men by a 1-0 score in AUS semifinal action Friday night.

UNB's Matt Quigley (Conquerall Mills, NS) scored on a goal mouth scramble early in the second half to give the Varsity Reds a 1-0 victory. Varsity Reds keeper Evan Barker (Winnipeg, MB) made numerous game saving blocks to preserve the victory.

Quigley's goal broke a scoreless game despite StFX controlling most of the possession. Barker made a goal-line save with 15 minutes left. The Varsity Reds were able to battle the rainy conditions and hold off the X-Men's attack as Barker made several key second half saves.

With the win the Varsity Reds earn a berth in the AUS championship game on Sunday against the host Cape Breton Capers who earlier in the evening defeated Acadia 5-0. They also punched their ticket to the U SPORTS national championship as the AUS conference receives two berths.
