X-Women soccer goaltender Maris Miller was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 122, 2012. Maris, a third year Science student from St. John’s, NF played well between the pipes for the X-Women in two weekend ties against Memorial in her hometown. In Saturday’s 1-1 draw, Maris made two saves followed by a seven save performance in the X-Women’s 0-0 draw on Sunday. In 10 games played this season, she holds a 1-5-4 record with two shutouts and has a goals against average of 1.56.

X-Men soccer goalkeeper Andrew MacDonald was named the StFX Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 22, 2012. Andrew, a fourth year business student from Antigonish, NS recorded two shutout victories this past weekend at Memorial. In the X-Men’s 2-0 win on Saturday, Andrew made three saves, followed by six saves in their 7-0 victory on Sunday. After returning from an early season injury, in seven games played, Andrew has a 3-1-3 record with three shutouts and is second in the AUS in goals against average at 0.58.
