X-Men Soccer in 3rd Place

X-Men Soccer in 3rd Place
The X-Men soccer team improved their AUS league record to 3-1-3 after a win and a tie this past weekend. The X-Men currently sit in third place in a tight AUS division which sees a point differential of 5 points separating first through seventh positions. On Friday afternoon in Cape Breton, the X-Men earned a close 1-0 victory over the defending AUS champion Capers. StFX Player of the Game and team leading scorer rookie Jamar Dixon scored the lone goal of the game at the 58 minute mark. Mark Krocko earned the shutout win in nets for the X-Men. Defender Greg White was named Player of the game for the Capers.

On Saturday afternoon at home, the X-Men followed suit with the earlier X-Women score and played to a 0-0 draw against the UNB Varsity Reds. Mark Krocko again did not allow any goals into the StFX net, but the X-Men also couldn't put it past Varsity Reds netminder Matt Lally. Lally earned the Player of the Game nod for UNB while Kieran Gilfoy was named Player of the Game for StFX for his stellar defensive play.

The X-Men next see action when they host two games at home this weekend during StFX Homecoming festivities. On Friday afternoon StFX will play host to Saint Mary's (4-3-1, tie 5th place) at 5:15 pm, while on Sunday afternoon the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleus (2-2-2, tie 5th place) will be in town for a 3:15 kickoff.
