Successful weekend for X-Men

Sep 22, 2008 - The X-Men soccer team moved into fourth place in the AUS standings after a 3-1 win over Dalhousie and a 1-1 tie with Mount Allison this past weekend. Saturday afternoon in Halifax, Justin MacKenzie opened up the socring in the game with a goal at the 54 minute mark in the seocnd half of the game. Wes Hawley of the Tigers tied it up 16 minutes later but freshman Jamar Dixon scored his second game winning goal of the season at at 80 minutes. Ryan Casey scored the insurance marker for X nine minutes later as Mark Krocko earned the win in nets. Andrew Blodgett was named the Player of the Game for StFX while Chris Haughan received the honor for Dalhousie

On Sunday, the X-Men travelled to Sackville, NB and played a hard fought game against the Mounties, with the result ending in a 1-1 draw. Kohei Yamashita scored 24 minutes into the game for Mount Allison while Jamar Dixon scored his team leading third goal of the season at the 55 minute mark. The X-Men pressured the Mountie net throughout the second half but were unable to score the go ahead goal.

The X-Men (2-1-2) have a couple of key matches this weekend as they travel to Cape Breton Friday afternoon for a match against the second place Capers (2-1-2), followed by a home game Saturday afternoon against the first place UNB Varsity Reds (3-0-3).
