X-Men soccer wrap up season

The StFX men’s soccer team battled to a 3-1 win over Acadia and lost a 3-1 contest to Dalhousie in their last games of the 2008 season.

On Saturday at Acadia, Michael Marousek had goals at the 15th, 63rd and 79th minutes to record the hat trick for the X-Men. Marousek was named the Player of the Game for StFX.

In the X-Men’s final game of the season, the Dalhousie Tigers came to Antigonish and handed StFX a 3-1 loss. Julian Perrota of Dalhousie had two goals in the game and Andrew Ballantyne had the other. Jamar Dixon had the lone goal for the X-Men.

The game marked the final one for X-Men head coach Lou Bilek who is retiring after an amazing 39 year run behind the helm of the soccer X-Men.

The X-Men finish the season with a 4-6-3 record and in 7th place. StFX did not qualify for the AUS championship tournament next weekend at Mount Allison.
