At a special presentation during the StFX Athletics Awards Gala held Monday evening in Antigonish, N.S., Atlantic University Sport announced X-Men hockey forward Eric Locke as the 2017 recipient of the 31st annual James Bayer Memorial Scholarship Award presented by PepsiCo Beverages Canada.

Acadia forward Michael Clarke (Halifax, NS) had two goals in the first period, and Daniel Pettersson (Toronto, ON) added two in the second to lead the Axemen to a 7-3 win over StFX, in the bronze medal game at the 2017 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup Sunday morning.

The No. 6 Saskatchewan Huskies stunned the No. 2 StFX X-Men with an 8-0 shutout victory in the second semifinal game of the 2017 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup to advance to the national final on Sunday. Seven different players scored for the Huskies, who avenged last year’s 2-1 triple overtime semifinal loss to StFX.

The StFX X-Men used a balanced attack to defeat the McGill Redmen, 4-1, in the final quarter-final game of the 2017 U SPORTS Cavendish Farms University Cup men’s hockey championship on Thursday evening.

The StFX X-Men have been seeded in the No. 2 position for the upcoming U SPORTS championship in Fredericton, NB and will play the McGill Redmen Friday night at 7:00 pm in the quarter-finals.

The StFX X-Men are back-to-back Subway Atlantic University Sport (AUS) hockey champions.

The StFX X-Men are in a familiar position. The X-Men are up 1-0 in the Subway Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey final, and headed home for game two, after a 2-1 victory over the UNB Varsity Reds on Monday night.

The X-Men hockey team will open their Subway AUS Championship best-of-three final series on March 6th at UNB. Game 2 will be hosted at StFX on March 8th at 7:00 pm.
